Adilabad: A sloth bear which accidentally fell into a well was rescued by Forest officials at Sakara village in Boath mandal on Saturday.
Officials said that an adult sloth bear from the nearby forest slipped into a dry farm well possibly while searching for food. However, it was brought out safely using a cot and ropes after receiving information from locals. It entered the wild after being rescued. Locals were urged not to harm wild animals if sighted in farms.
The officials stated that the wild animals sometimes step outside of the forests in search of food and water. They requested the villagers to avoid sudden confrontation with the wild animals and not to take paths in dense forests for grazing animals and gathering firewood. They advised the public to move in groups.
