Hyderabad: A 70-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son following a dispute over family property at Dooskal village in Farooqnagar mandal of Rangareddy district in the early hours of Thursday.
The victim was identified as Bhagam Pochayya. His son, Bhagam Mallesh, allegedly attacked him with a stone during an argument over the family’s land, causing fatal injuries to his head. Pochayya is said to have died on the spot.
According to family members and locals, Mallesh had allegedly been addicted to alcohol and had earlier sold a portion of the family’s land. He had reportedly been pressuring his father to transfer the remaining land in his name.
Pochayya, however, was reluctant to part with the property, fearing that doing so could affect the future of Mallesh’s two sons, family members said. The issue had reportedly led to frequent arguments between the father and son.
The latest confrontation between them allegedly turned violent late on Wednesday night, when Mallesh attacked his father with a stone.
The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case. Further details are awaited.
