Medak: A man allegedly slit his father’s tongue following an argument over the Rythu Bharosa assistance amount at Aurangabad village in Havelighanpur mandal on Tuesday.
The victim, Keerya Nayak (55), who owns one acre of farmland, had received Rs 6,000 under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He had spent Rs 2,000 on medicines for himself and handed over the remaining Rs 4,000 to his younger son, Santosh.
Unsatisfied, Santosh demanded the entire Rs 6,000 and picked up a heated argument with his father. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked Keerya with a sickle, cutting his tongue.
Family members rushed the bleeding Keerya to the government hospital in Medak, where doctors administered four stitches. Though he is currently unable to speak, doctors said he would recover gradually.
The police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by Keerya’s wife and are investigating the incident.
