Hyderabad: In a complete u-turn soon after announcing his election manifesto for MAA (Movie Artistes’ Association) polls, actor CVL Narasimha Rao on Saturday withdrew his nomination for the MAA president’s post.
Rao said he would come before the media in another couple of days to present his reasons as to why he backed out from the election race. However, Rao reportedly said rather than contesting for the president’s post, it is the welfare of artistes that’s foremost priority to him at the current juncture.
Stating that he is not lending support to either of the panels’ both MAA contestants Prakash Raj and Manchu Vishnu, he said whoever gets elected as MAA president should strive for the welfare of artistes in the movie industry. He later thanked senior actor Vijayashanthi for supporting him throughout the process.
On Friday, actor Bandla Ganesh withdrew his nomination from contesting the president’s post. He, however, said that he would extend his support to Prakash Raj’s panel ‘Maa Biddalu’ and said that he would continue to fight for the welfare of movie artistes. He further said he would stick to his promise that he made recently — providing two-bedroom houses for 100 poor artistes in the industry.
