Sports Briefs: Hashwith wins gold in juniors skateboard event

Hyderabad: Seven-year-old Mallina Hashwith clinched the gold medal in the Juniors category (six for eight years) of the skateboard event of the 63rd National rollerskating championship in Visakhapatnam. It was an impressive performance considering the fact that it was his first Nationals for Hashwith, who is a second-grade student of the Sri Ram Academy in the city.

Hyd loses to Punjab
Punjab scored a 38-run win against Hyderabad in the Cooch Behar Trophy (under-19) cricket championship at NFC Ground here on Wednesday. Punjab picked up seven points by virtue of this win, and the home team none. The scores: At NFC: Hyderabad 246 in 74.4 overs & 156 in 70.5 overs (Alankrit Rapole 48, Anmoljeet 4/61, Lakshay Kansal 5/47) lost to Punjab 440 in 116.1 overs (Sarthak Tyagi 109, Adhiraj Singh Mangat 58, Wafi Kachchhi 7/127).

State boxing selections
Ranga Reddy Amateur Boxing Association will organize State team championship cum-selections from December 18 to 20 at Shaikpet Boxing Club near here for men and women in different weight categories. The State teams for the Nationals to be held in Noida from December 31 will be picked during the above meet. Boxers between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 2006, are eligible to participate.
