Hyderabad: Sreenidi Deccan FC will take the field one last time in the I-League 2024–25 season when it takes on Sporting Club Bengaluru at the Deccan Arena here on Saturday.

The Deccan Warriors lost 0–1 to Gokulam Kerala FC in a closely fought contest in their last league fixture, while Sporting Club Bengaluru suffered a 2–1 defeat away to Namdhari FC.

“We will go into the final match of the season aiming for a positive result. With the final three points up for grabs, we know that Sporting Club Bengaluru will throw everything into the game as they are battling relegation,” said assistant coach Ishant Singh, who is currently in charge of the Deccan Warriors.

“It isn’t going to be an easy game for us, but we will give our absolute best to finish the season on a high,” he said.

Colombian forward David Castaneda currently leads the race for the ‘Golden Boot’ with 15 goals to his name. The striker said they didn’t have the season they wanted.

“We even lost quite a few matches at home. But the fans had our backs and supported us throughout the campaign. I want to thank them for their constant support. I hope to see them in the stands tomorrow as well — we want to fight our last battle together with our fans,” he said.

In the reverse fixture, the Golden Tigers emerged victorious on their home turf with a 0-1 scoreline.
