Hyderabad: Sreenidi Deccan FC emerged champions in the TFA A-Division Rahim League football championship at Sreenidi Deccan Arena here on Sunday.
It is worth mentioning that the League is conducted in memory of S.A. Rahim, regarded as one of the greatest football coaches from India, who mentored many Olympians, including sending six from the city to the 1956 Melbourne Games.
The league, spanning over four months and featuring 91 matches in total, saw Sreenidi clinch the honors with 32 points after settling for a one-all draw with RT Boys Football Club in the final round match.
RT Boys took the lead in the 15th minute through Shashank, only for Sreenidi to score the equalizer in the 55th minute.
RT Boys finished second with 32 points, while AGORC secured third place with 29 points.
The valedictory function was graced by Telangana Brand Ambassador and former India football captain Syed Nayeemuddin, Mr. S. Ashok Anand Kumar (senior advocate of Telangana High Court), TFA secretary G.P. Palguna, Col. K.P. Badiya, Col. V.S. Ganesh Kumar, and Col. Ravi Sharma of the Artillery Centre, which also hosted some of the league matches.
With limited grounds available in the twin cities, the TFA was fortunate to have the Sreenidhi Group step in. They not only hosted most of the league matches but also provided free transport from Lal Bahadur Stadium to the venues for the benefit of players and officials.
Final Round Result:
RT Boys FC 1 (Shashank) drew with Sreenidi Deccan FC 1 (Khup).
