Hyderabad: Telangana’s Sri Nithya Sagi won the gold medal in the women’s 200m backstroke, while state-mate Suhas Preetham Mylari settled for the bronze in the men’s 200m backstroke at the 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championship here on Sunday.

Sri Nithya bags gold

Sri Nithya clocked 2:24.59 to finish first in the women’s 200m backstroke. Karnataka’s Priyanshi Misra took the silver in 2:29.13, while her state-mate Meenakshi Menon won the bronze in 2:31.99.

Suhas takes bronze

In the men’s 200m backstroke, Suhas Preetham Mylari secured the bronze with a timing of 2:06.62.

Karnataka’s Vedanta Venkata Madhira won the gold in 2:06.13, while Mongam Theerdhu Samadev of SSCB finished second in 2:06.45.
