Mahabubnagar: Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud said with State government according top priority to improving infrastructure, facilities and services, people have now reposed their confidence in government hospitals.
The Minister inaugurated an oxygen plant set up at a cost of Rs one crore by the government in association with Mahindra and Mahindra company at Government General Hospital here on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said prior to 2014, there was not a single oxygen cylinder in GGH, Mahabubnagar. But, the TRS government has improved the infrastructure at the hospital and developed it into a 560-oxygen-bedded hospital, he said.
In the past, there were only 14 doctors at the hospital. It is has sufficient doctors, nurses, besides required advanced equipment to extend quality treatment to people, the Minister said.
“After Gandhi and Osmania General Hospitals, oxygen production plant was set up at GGH, Mahabubnagar. The plant produces 1000 litres oxygen per minute,” said Srinivas Goud. He appealed to Mahindra and Mahindra and other companies, which set up their units in Mahabubnagar and assured that Telangana government would extend all support to such companies. State government was framing policies to increase employment opportunities to local youth, he said.
The Minister said efforts were being made to construct a super specialitty hospital on the Old Collector office premises with a cost of Rs 400 crore. As the current Collector office would be shifted to new Integrated Collectorate Complex, Yengugonda, space at the old Collector office would be used for constructing a super speciality hospital.
Meanwhile, the Excise Minister participated in a protest organized by the district TRS unit against the anti-farmer policies of the Central government.
As per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, a protest rally was conducted from ZP Grounds in the town and effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were burnt at Telangana Chowrasta.
