Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Tollywood ace film director SS Rajamouli said that he rejoiced watching his latest movie screened at a mobile digital theatre in Asifabad from where Kumram Bheem, one of the lead characters of the film, hailed. He came KB Theatre here set up jointly by Zilla Samakhya and Picture Time here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajamouli expressed happiness to have watched his magnum opus starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead role, in the theatre which was built with a low cost. He was all praise for the women who played a vital role in establishing the facility. He recalled that he had mulled the idea of setting up similar theatre for quite a long time, but was jealous of the women for realizing it.

The director said that the women self-help groups set an example to others by creating the theatre which the town was deprived of for over three decades. He opined that more mobile theatres could be established in two Telugu states. He expressed concern over dwindling number of theatres with the advent of modern technology. He cited that erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had now 1,800 theatres as against 3,000 theatres in the past.

Rajamouli, who was basking in the success of his latest release RRR, informed that it was a memorable experience to watch the film in the theatre made of balloons. A large number of filmgoers made a beeline to Asifabad to have a glimpse of the director and jostled to take selfies with him. The sleepy town has come alive with the arrival of the creative director and his wife Rama.

He earlier paid homage to tribal legend Kumram Bheem by garlanding his statue. He was earlier welcomed by Collector Rahul Raj, Additional Collector Varun Reddy, tribal legend Kumram Bheem’s grandson Sone Rao. Tribal artistes performed a Gussadi dance to mark his arrival to the town.

Padmashri award recipient Kanaka Raju felicitated Rajamouli with a headgear made of peacock feathers.
District Rural Development Officer Surender, Panchayat Raj Executive Engineer Rammohan, Asifabad DSP Srinivas, District Panchayat Raj Officer Srinivas and Inspector Ashok were present.
