Telangana India’s first International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) was jointly inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana, and Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, in Hyderabad. The IAMC has come up with 25,000 sqft temporary accommodation in Gachibowli. The State government has announced that land for a permanent building will be allotted at Puppalaguda in Hyderabad. Those who empanel the centre include internationally acclaimed arbitrators and mediators from countries such as Singapore and the UK. Justice Ramana said he is confident that this centre will lead the way for arbitration and mediation in the country and will become the premier centre not only in India but across the world. He also said the centre becoming a reality is nothing short of a miracle.
Andhra Pradesh The Andhra Pradesh government joined hands with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), to help farmers take up sustainable agri-food systems. The State government entered into an agreement on a technical cooperation project with FAO and ICAR, for strengthening the capacities of the State to support farmers to adopt sustainable agri-food systems. Agriculture special chief secretary PoonamMalakondaiah signed the MoU on behalf of Andhra Pradesh while FAO was represented by its country director TomioShichirim while deputy director-general AK Singh signed on behalf of ICAR. Under the agreement, FAO will provide training to farmers, RythuBharosaKendram staff, officials, and scientists on new technologies in agricultural allied sectors and cultivation management practices.
Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a major initiative to save the lives of road accident victims in the State – InnuyirKaappon – providing free medical treatment within the first 48 hours to those injured.
A total of 609 hospitals across the State — 408 private hospitals and 201 government hospitals — have been networked to provide medicare during the golden hour and save precious human lives. The scheme offers about 81 recognised live-saving procedures to a maximum cover of up to Rs 1 lakh to the victim. Choice of hospitalisation (after stabilisation) is offered to the victim to opt for payment through health insurance or self in case the victim seeks to be shifted to a hospital of his or her choice.
Jammu and Kashmir An 11-year-old girl from the Batengoo area of the Anantnag district of South Kashmir has become the youngest author from the State to publish her book “Zeal of Pen”. AdeebaRiyaz, a class VII student wrote the book consisting of 96 pages in just 11 days. She is awarded by the India Book of Records for writing a book at such a young age.
Her 96 pages’ book is available online on seven platforms including Amazon India. She got into the writing field when she won a writing contest organized by the Anantnag District administration. As per the author, the book has “mammoth insights and peculiarities” adding that the book contains something about everything. The budding author wants to continue writing and provide “literature-filled joy to the world by writing about scenes everyone can relate to.
Assam The inaugural leg of Brahmaputra Utsav, being organised as part of AzadikaAmritMahotsav covering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, concluded in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
The Brahmaputra Utsav will now be held in Majuli, Koliabor and Guwahati in Assam and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. The Brahmaputra Board, Ministry of Jalshakti, Govt of India, is organising the programme from December 16 to 22. The Utsav will celebrate the mystical and cultural heritage of the Brahmaputra through storytelling, folklores, quizzes, displaying traditional art forms, dance and music performances, photo exhibitions, etc., and enable the people to appreciate the cultural richness along the river. The famous RaidongiaDol monument in Lejai-Kalakhowa was illuminated at night as part of the celebration. A bicycle rally and a yoga programme were also held.
