Telangana
Authorities in Telangana began a fever survey across the state on Friday to identify people with Covid-19 symptoms and distribute home isolation kits free of cost.
The State government said it has a crore home isolation kits ready for distribution among those who either tested positive for Covid or are having symptoms. With the number of Covid cases rising in the State for the last three weeks, the medical and health department in coordination with municipal administration, panchayat raj and other departments launched the door-to-door survey.
Healthcare workers were going door to door in GHMC and other areas to check out if any inmate is having symptoms like fever, cold and cough.
Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to raise funds from donors, both national and international, as it urgently requires over Rs 6,300 crore to ramp up infrastructure in schools for implementing the National Education Policy-2020.
Also, with its plan to get all the 44,500-plus government schools in the state affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, requisite physical infrastructure needs to be built.
There are 44,519 state-run schools in AP with 66,846 rooms at present. As per the infrastructure standards for foundation and foundation-plus schools and high schools, and also the norms of the CBSE, the total requirement of rooms in these schools is 1,15,472.
Ladakh
The Ladakh women’s team has won the ninth national women’s ice hockey championship organised by the Ice Hockey Association of India in Himachal Pradesh, an official spokesman said on Friday.The championship was held in Kaza area of Himachal Pradesh from January 15 – 21.
Six teams from Delhi, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Telangana and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police participated in the championship, he said. A total of 20 players represented the union territory in the championship.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur and Ladakh Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department, Ravinder Kumar congratulated the team for bringing laurels to the union territory.
Mizoram
Beginning with Mizoram, the Centre on Thursday launched a Mobile Covid testing facility — a first of its kind Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory (I-LAB) capable of performing both RT-PCR and ELISA tests — for Northeast India.
The mobile lab has bio-safety facility and is capable of performing both RT-PCR and ELISA tests. It can also be utilised for testing other infectious diseases like TB, HIV, and therefore will remain relevant even in post-Covid times.
The Mobile Lab Technology will be rolled out gradually in other states of the Northeast as the region has unique climatic and topographical conditions.
Haryana/ Himachal Pradesh
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday between the Himachal Pradesh and Haryana governments for construction of the Adi Badri dam bordering both the States with an outlay of Rs 215.35 crore for the rejuvenation of the Saraswati river, which is mentioned in Hindu mythology.
The pact was signed in Panchkula near here by the Chief Secretaries of both the states in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar.
The entire dam construction cost will be borne by Haryana and Himachal Pradesh will get benefits of the project, including a share in the water.
