TSRTC union leader says, "We have every right to select anyone as honorary president of our union"
Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Union leaders on Saturday took strong exception to the remarks made by former Health Minister Eatala Rajender against MLC K Kavitha and asked him not to interfere in their union matters.
“We have every right to select anyone as honorary president of our union. What is wrong if we select Kavitha as our honorary president?” asked Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) leader M Thomas Reddy while addressing a press conference here.
“We requested her several times to work as our union honorary president. But she said the party decision is final to her,” Reddy said, asking Rajender not to interfere in the corporation matter as 49,000 employees were depending on it.
“If Kavitha works as an honorary president of the union, chances of getting more benefits from the government are bright,” Reddy said. He added that the RTC employees would not tolerate it if Rajender continued to make any remarks against Kavitha in the future.
The RTC employees would always support Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who is striving for the development of the corporation on all fronts. Reddy said the Chief Minister has allocated Rs.3,000 crore in the budget and recently issued an order to release Rs 1,000 crore for RTC.
Rajender, who is representing Huzurabad assembly constituency, only extended various schemes introduced by the State government. But he did nothing concrete on his own to the people in the constituency. “Can Rajender stop privatization of Singareni, LIC and other public sector undertakings (PSUs) since the Central government is resorting to privatization of PSUs?” he asked.
Meanwhile, the TRS State Labour Wing (Karmika Vibhagam) president G Rambabu Yadav said that Rajender had quit TRS only to protect his properties. Rajender has no right to speak about the working classes as he is contemplating joining the BJP, which is privatising PSUs.
After TRS came to power, elections were conducted for various unions in government organizations. This resulted in resolving problems being faced by employees and at the same time, their salaries were also increased. He demanded that Rajender return the lands that were forcibly taken from villagers in Medak district.
