When you are as passionate about food as the friends-turned-business partners Sailaja Cheruvu and Sashikala Tekal, you can be sure that the passion is going to reflect in the food they supply.

With ‘homemade’ food becoming a buzzword in the city, the two school friends, who share a common passion for exploring different foods but never really thought of making it a business, suddenly decided to get together to start a venture together.

Sailaja who is a well-known chocolatier in the city runs www.sailoochocos.com for the past 12 years. And Sashikala was providing lunch for senior citizens and sick people in her surroundings. “Around two years ago, my friend Sashikala and I were discussing about our common passion, cooking, and we thought why not think big and start something different together. We did our bit of research and understood that finding labour was not so easy. So taking inputs from our research, we went for semi-automatic machines which needed fewer human interventions and we started ‘Luv for Food’ in 2018,” says Shailaja who also monitors the marketing and social media promotions, along with cooking.

Within a few days, ‘Luv for Food’ became a big hit and with just word-of-mouth publicity. People started to order their requests over the phone. “We supply only pure vegetarian food — lunches or savouries (including all types of traditional sweets and snacks, pizzas, pav and many more,” says Sashikala who monitors the kitchen.

The duo believe that food turns out to be absolutely delicious when we cook it in a happy mood, while it isn’t as tasty when we cook under stress or anger. So chantings or pleasant music is played till the cooking is done in their kitchen.

Located in the residential lanes of Habsiguda, ‘Luv for Food’ is known for its well-maintained hygiene and cleanliness. One can see in their Facebook page how the food is manufactured. They are famous for Karivepaku podi, Rasam podi, Sambar podi, Arisalu, Gavvalu, Mixture, Ghee Mysore pak, Sunnundalu, Khaja, Jilebi, Besan laddu, Badusha, Janthikalu, etc., with Laddu being their biggest hit item. They usually make sweets only with jaggery and on customer’s request they make them with sugar. ‘Luv for Food’, which has an outlet in DD Colony, is also into keto and millet diet.

During the lockdown, ‘Luv for Food’ was a blessing to many. Those who were affected with Covid and were isolated — for such families, the duo supplied the food which was well-packed. “As of now we delivering in Ramanthapur, DD Colony, Kachiguda, Gandhinagar, Basheer Bagh, Himayathnagar, etc., and if someone wants to place the order, it’s they have to inform just one day in advance,” says Shailaja, who also did product development on keto and millet diets for a few companies.

Both the friends are supported by their respective husbands in their business and their motto is ‘Whoever eats their food has to be healthy and happy’. Their lunch packages start from Rs 100 and you can place orders on +91 98490 59821.
