Kothagudem: Steps will be taken to find a permanent solution to the drinking water problem in Kothagudem, stated MLA Vanama Venkateshwar Rao.
Around Rs 130 crore would be required to address the problem and the matter would be taken to the notice of the State government seeking to sanction the funds, the MLA said speaking at Kothagudem Municipality budget meeting here on Wednesday.
The municipal council chaired by Chairperson Kapu Sitalakshmi approved Rs 30.72 crore budget estimates for the financial year 2022-23. With an estimated income of Rs 30.93 crore there has been a surplus estimate of Rs 20.82 lakh.
The District Collector Anudeep Durishetty has asked councillors in the municipality to educate residents on segregation of dry and wet waste to ensure cleanliness in the town. Greenery and cleanliness were two important aspects to develop Kothagudem as a Swachh Municipality.
He informed that based on the performance of councillors additional funds would be allotted to wards for development works. He told the councillors to identify lands for setting up volleyball, indoor shuttle courts and community halls.
Durishetty suggested expanding footpaths on main roads in the town saying that lack of footpaths might lead to accidents. Kothagudem was developing on par with all municipalities in the State, he added.
