Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Water Day, Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar appealed to people to save water and stop the usage of drinking water to wash vehicles. In a tweet, he said that especially in Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills and other upscale localities, drinking water was being used to wash vehicles.

“Can we pledge NOT to use running water to wash vehicles (among other measures)? Remember – It’s treated potable water & almost criminal wasting it like this !I’ve noticed it often on jubilee, Banjara Hills, so called other posh localities & in gated communities Please …,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, addressing a programme organised by an educational institution on World Water Day , HMW&SB Managing Director Dana Kishore requested women to play a vital role in water conservation. HMW&SB in a press release said a 10 day awareness campaign on water conservation has commenced on Tuesday and works related to rainwater harvesting pits will also be taken up.
