Khammam: A stray dog attacked and injured eight persons, including children and elders, at Mujjugudem village of Nelakondapalli mandal in the district on Saturday.

Among the injured, six persons were from Mujjugudem village, one from Acharlagudem village, and a youth from Nelakondapalli village. The stray dog went berserk and bit whoever it found on the streets. The incident created panic in Mujjugudem village, and some youths attacked the dog with sticks and killed it. The villagers complained that the number of stray dogs had increased and that proper action was not being taken despite several complaints to the authorities.

Children were afraid to go out due to the stray dog menace. The authorities should respond and take immediate action to address the problem, they said. The villagers, who suffered bleeding injuries in the attack, were treated at the local government hospital.
