Nalgonda: District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil on Wednesday instructed mandal-level officials to ensure strict implementation of lockdown and also measures to control the spread of Covid-19.

The Collector, along with Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath, held a video conference with Tasildars, MPDOs and Panchayat Secretaries and issued several instructions to them on issues related to the pandemic.

He said the State government had extended the lockdown up to May 30 to check the spread of the virus in the State. Village teams should be formed with a policeman and employees of grama panchayat to keep an eye on those who violate Covid-19 norms. A penalty of Rs 1,000 should be imposed on persons who come out of their houses without wearing a face mask. People must wear masks in public places and workplaces also. He reminded that the state government has issued GO in this regard under Disaster Management Act-2005.

Stating that people should wear the mask and maintain social distance, he instructed the officials to maintain zero tolerance for those who would violate it. The people should also cooperate with the officials and police in making the lockdown success in the district.

He said that sarpanches and MPDOs should take initiative and set up insolation centre in the government school in the villages where it is required. The people, who have symptoms of Covid-19, must be kept under home quarantine.

Ranganath warned that the police would act sternly against those who would violate lockdown and Covid-19 norms. Every person had a responsibility in controlling the spread of the virus. Funeral rites of the persons, who died suffering from Covid-19, should be conducted following the corona protocol, he made it clear. Cases would be taken against the corona-positive persons, who would come onto the roads, under the Contagious Diseases Act.
