Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, who visited the site of the building collapse which killed two persons at Anjaiahnagar in Madhapur, said the death toll could have been higher if more people had been present in the building at the time of the collapse.
“Luckily, only a few individuals were present in the building. Along with the municipal corporation teams, we will conduct a survey and identify all illegal structures. Necessary action will be taken to prevent such incidents,” he said.
Ranganath said action would also be initiated against a person identified as Sajid, who allegedly constructed several buildings on small plots in the neighbourhood. “It has come to our notice that an individual named Sajid was constructing buildings on plots measuring 50 to 70 square yards. The properties were later sold to individuals who used them as hostels. Action, including demolition, will be taken against such illegal structures soon,” he said.
HYDRAA officials said they would identify any illegal structures built by Sajid across the neighbourhood and take necessary action, including demolition where violations are confirmed.
