Nirmal: The Telangana Students Association for Solidarity (TSAS) urged the management of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)-Basar to protect the institution from the alleged vested interests of the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and his team.
Levelling multiple allegations against the VC, the student body released a statement on its X handle and WhatsApp channel on Saturday evening.
TSAS alleged that the VC handed over contracts of the university messes to agencies that had earlier faced criticism for providing poor quality food to inmates at the university for a long time and for committing irregularities in the past, merely by altering their names.
TSAS also demanded that the management of the university cancel the tenders for the messes and invite fresh tenders immediately. It also sought action against the VC for allegedly abusing power and misusing public money by creating fake posts in the administrative wing. The body demanded that the government fill up posts lying vacant in both teaching and non-teaching departments for long periods.
The association further requested the management to stop threatening and harassing students who question irregularities and wrongdoing by officials and targeting the students. They also urged the authorities to grant laptops to first-year engineering students immediately.
