Hyderabad: Demanding repeal of GO MS 4 issued by the State government for degree lecturers recruitment, University of Hyderabad postgraduate students and PhD scholars staged a protest on the university campus here on Wednesday.
Protesting students questioned the intent behind GO MS 4, which grants 25 marks weightage to candidates with a PhD. The students contended that such a provision was not followed in other States. They argued that such a provision puts NET and SET qualified candidates at a disadvantage, besides undermining fairness in the selection process.
Further, students highlighted that the recruitment notification for 544 degree lecturer posts, announced in 2022, was still pending. They demanded that the government revoke GO MS 4 and hold the recruitment examination under the previous system. They warned that protests would be intensified if the government fails to address their concerns.
Students, including Devender Reddy, Mahesh, Mahender, Upender and Akhila, along with Telangana Unemployed Joint Action Committee leader Asma, participated in the protest.
