Hyderabad: While it’s true that appearance does matter a lot, not many know what to pick up for their wedding or any special occasion and end up getting confused. Fret not, there’s help at hand. Stylist Sandhya Sabbavarapu is the person you need for all your styling needs.
The city-based celebrity stylist not only works for movies but also trains interns and provides them employment as well.
After completing her fashion designing course from Hamstech in Hyderabad, Sandhya started working as an intern in a couple of companies initially. Later, with the help of her cousin, she got into the Telugu film industry and started styling for celebrities which became a turning point in her career.
“I was always passionate about styling. As there are fewer players in this line, I started focusing on it. I was working for a couple of years and did a lot of homework before starting out on my own,” says the 26-year-old Sandhya.
Sandhya started her film career with ‘Geetha Govindam’, and worked for the complete film, and especially took care of the styling of the lead pair – Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. “I have been into this industry for six years and have done projects like ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 3’, ‘Bheeshma’, ‘Rang De’, and ‘Varudu Kaavalenu’, which made me explore various concepts,” says Sandhya who is also working for Tamil films now.
Sandhya also ventured into the world of the small screen and has been working for TV ads as well. “I have been working for the ad shoots and that is one of the toughest jobs I feel. They will be more particular about the colours and detailing,” says the young stylist, adding that her job makes it necessary for her to be available on call always.
“Ours is not a 9-to-5 job and there are no fixed timings for a stylist. We should be active and run on the field whenever they need us,” she shares.
Apart from celebs, the city stylist also has loyal clients whose wardrobes are designed by her. “I also style people for their weddings and special occasions. People tend to get confused what to wear when and we bring that touch of clarity and help them figure things out and dress well for their special days,” says Sandhya, who charges Rs 2 lakh for the whole wedding ceremony.
Sandhya is currently working for movies like ‘18 Pages’ (Nikhil and Anupama Parameshwaran), ‘Swathi Muthyam’ (Bellamkonda Ganesh and Varsha bollema) and a Tamil project ‘Emoji’ (Mahat Raghavendra starrer). Besides these, she is ready to roll for a film starring Dhanush under the direction of Venky Atluri and another yet-to-be-titled Tamil movie.
