Hyderabad: A selfie video and a suicide note purportedly written by a 56-year-old businessman P Suresh from Nizamabad district helped the Vijayawada police detain two financiers holding them responsible for the suicide.

Suresh and his wife Srilatha and their two sons Akhil and Ashish of Gangsthan phase-II in Nizamabad town ended their lives early on Saturday in Vijayawada. Srilatha and Ashish were found dead in the room number 312 at Sri Kanyakaparameswari cottage while Suresh and Akhil committed suicide by jumping into the Krishna River near the temple.

Since Suresh held four financiers from Nizamabad responsible in a suicide note, a five-member police team from Vijayawada came to the district and detained two out of four financiers.

Sources said the financiers allegedly threatened Suresh to seize his house in an apartment at phase-II in Gangsthan if he failed to repay the loan. The financiers also threatened him in an abusive language.

The financiers called him when he came to Vijayawada to have darshan of Sri Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga atop Indrakeeladri and checked into room number 312 at Sri Kanyakaparameswari cottage.

Unable to bear the torture, Suresh and his family took the drastic step. Before ending their lives, he forwarded a message to his brother-in-law, who alerted the cottage staff.

The police said they were conducting investigation based on the suicide note along with the details in the mobile phones of Suresh and his family members. Suresh owns a medical shop while Akhil was running a petrol filling station after taking it on lease and Ashish was pursuing B-Pharmacy course, according to police.

Following the death of Suresh and his family, the district police also decided to crack the whip on financiers, who are harassing people in the name of recovering the loan amount.
