Hyderabad: At a time when ‘immunity’ has become a priority, Hyderabad-based startup SuperHealthy is looking to disrupt the nutrition space with a line of innovative products in the healthy snacking segment. The company offers products that have been curated specifically for those who look for healthy diet options, with quality standards approved by nutritionists and recommended by health specialists. The company’s products are available today in 11 cities across India.

SuperHealthy, co-founded by Yeshwanth Goturu and Meghana Mojjada, since its inception in July 2019, has grown multi-fold from being the ‘Most Wished’ in the Mixed Nuts category on Amazon India in December 2019 to now becoming the ‘Best Seller’ in the Mixed Dried Fruits category.

The company has also launched its products on other platforms such as Big Basket, Flipkart and Snapdeal. It has strengthened its presence in the online marketplace with over one lakh customers.

Yeshwanth Goturu told Telangana Today, “Our entrepreneurial journey so far has been an experiential learning- the way we have set up our processing and packaging unit, finalised the vendor and dispatch section. It was encouraging as the word of mouth has picked up right from the launch of our products.”

“We have quickly expanded our facility from a 4,000-5,000 sq ft facility to a 16,000 sq ft unit now, as we realised the volumes have picked up. Our products are totally preservative-free and we have tested packaging that ensures longer shelf-life and quality of the products,” he added.

Innovation at core

Meghana Mojjada said, “We as an Indian startup want to innovate and create new products in the healthy snacking segment. Currently, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Gurugram are some of the major markets in terms of orders that we receive but there has been a growing traction across markets pan-India including farer markets such as the North East.”

She added, “We are using technology at the best to reach out to our markets. Customers also have the option of ordering products via WhatsApp from any city, which we deliver through our courier partners.”

The company offers a unique trail mix that consists of 22 varieties of nuts, seeds and berries, which acts as an immunity booster and helps maintain one’s overall cardiovascular health, while it also has newly launched antioxidant berries mix, omega seeds mix, fitness trail mix, pregnancy mix, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax and chia seeds. It has 10 products in total.

The products are naturally processed and packed in the company’s unit at Quthbullapur, Hyderabad. The team consists of 90 per cent women, as the startup believes in women empowerment. The company today employs 100 people at the facility, added Goturu.

Expansion strategy

The company which is in the process of raising an angel round of funding, plans to foray into offline retail space soon. Within next one year, the company has set a target of making its products available in over 10,000 general trade stores, 100 hypermarkets, 1,000 super markets across India by clocking a turnover of more than Rs 30 crore.

Going forward, the company looks at entering into the B2B space including the hospitality sector and corporate gifting. Not only metros, tier-2 and tier-3 cities are also showing good traction, SuperHealthy Brand & Corporate Sales head Roopali YK added.

The company plans to roll out new products in the traditional Indian snacking segment such as Indian grams with new flavours without adding calorie to the diet, smoothies and breakfast cereals by the end of 2021. Talks are already in progress with food innovation labs in Mumbai and Chandigarh. On the automation front, the company is getting blenders, cutting machines and other equipment to meet up volumes.
