Surprise food safety checks in Bhadrachalam, 30 kg unsafe products seized

Food safety officials in Bhadrachalam carried out surprise inspections at 15 shops, seizing 30 kg of unsafe food products and sending samples for laboratory testing. Authorities have warned of legal action against violators.

Kothagudem: The food safety officials conducted surprise inspections at various grocery shops, general stores and food outlets in the market area of Bhadrachalam town in the district on Friday.

The district food safety officer E Sharath and staff inspected around 15 shops. Samples of food items suspected of poor quality were collected and sent for laboratory testing. Around 30 kilograms of food products that did not comply with regulations were unfit for consumption were identified and discarded.

Officials advised all food business operators to mandatorily obtain an FSSAI food license or registration. Sharath stated that food safety inspections would continue across the district and warned that legal action would be taken against those violating regulations.

It may be recalled that the food safety officials recently seized around 150 litres of oil allegedly made from animal fat and bones at Venkatapuram village of Mudigonda mandal in Khammam district recently.

Following a complaint by the panchayat secretary Sravanthi and sarpanch Kandula Balachander, Sharath and staff carried out a raid at the residence of the accused Sheikh Sarwar Jani and his brother Anwar Jani. They were making oil by processing fat and bones of cows they slaughtered.
