The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 was flagged off on July 23 after a year’s delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It turns out that the videos and pictures claiming that people performed the Surya Namaskar at the Tokyo Olympics inauguration ceremony are old footage from another event.
The video is originally from a 2015 yoga event organised by ‘Art of Living’ in Mongolia, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In fact, the video is also uploaded on his YouTube channel, fact checking website Alt News points out.
The video that went viral starts from the 5:30 mark in the video.
