Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) had issued a five-year suspension to Dr Athaluri Namratha in 2016, following a complaint alleging irregularities in surrogacy practices.

Her registration number with the combined Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Medical Council was 37457, doctors familiar with the development said.

“The doctor was suspended and her registration was cancelled following complaints of irregularities in surrogacy. She was given a five-year suspension,” senior TGMC office bearers stated on Monday.

“Interestingly, Dr Athaluri Namratha did not bother to renew her registration with us after the suspension period.”

Despite having a cancelled registration and failing to renew it, Dr Namratha allegedly continued to operate IVF facilities in Secunderabad, Kukatpally and Visakhapatnam.
