The CM, who is also the AIADMK co-coordinator, has won from Edappadi four times (1989, 91, 2011 and 2016) and the region is among the strongholds of the ruling party.
"AIADMK is no longer Madam Jayalalithaa's party as she always kept her party away from BJP. Unfortunately, AIADMK has turned into Narendra Modi's slave now," said the AIMIM chief at a public rally in Chennai.
Her return to Tamil Nadu is being keenly watched as it comes at a time when the assembly elections in the state are likely to be held in the next few months.
