Infosys was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising around 2 per cent, followed by Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, TCS and Reliance Industries.

UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, HCL Tech and Reliance Industries were among the gainers in the Sensex pack, rising up to 2 per cent.

HCL Tech was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, surging around 2 per cent, followed by Infosys, Titan, Asian Paints, ONGC, Reliance Industries and Tech Mahindra.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, advanced 0.03 per cent to 91.07.

IndusInd Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising around 4.50 per cent, followed by Dr Reddy's, PowerGrid, Tech Mahindra, M&M, Sun Pharma and Axis Bank.

Around 10.25 a.m., Sensex was at 47,954.05, lower by 393.54 points or 0.81 per cent from its previous close of 48,347.59.

Bajaj Auto, Asian Paints, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Reliance Industries were top gainers.

On the domestic equity market front, the BSE Sensex was trading 277.80 points or 0.56 per cent higher at 50,069.92.

In the previous session, the rupee strengthened by 3 paise to close at 73.56 against the US dollar.

Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty rose 97.20 points or 0.73 per cent to an all-time closing high of 13,355.75. It touched its record intra-day peak of 13,366.65 in early trade.

The broader NSE Nifty was down by 15.30 points or 0.12 per cent at 13,093.75 in opening trade.

The rupee was trading in a narrow range on Friday considering the weak demand for riskier assets on the occasion of Dhanteras.

IndusInd Bank was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding around 3 per cent, followed by SBI, L&T, Axis Bank, HDFC twins, Kotak Bank and ICICI Bank.

The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.02 per cent to 93.02.
