Unrest among farmers is continuing in the State, with Thursday witnessing a crude attempt by the Congress government to quell their voices before they took their protest to the State capital.
Leaders were arrested and taken to local police stations while preparing to participate in the Chalo Praja Bhavan program across Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nirmal district centers. They were taken from their homes early in the morning and transported to the police stations.
The protest, which sought an unconditional loan waiver, gained momentum following a viral social media post by a young farmer urging collective action from farmers across villages, mandals, and districts. Farmers' unions rallied support, calling on various social groups to join their cause amid growing concerns over rising farmer suicides due to loan pressures.
