South Central Railway has announced special measures to handle the surge in passenger traffic during the Sankranthi festival. With daily footfall expected to reach 2.20 lakh at Secunderabad, 50,000 at Lingampalli and 35,000 at Cherlapalli, facilities have been enhanced with additional booking counters, ATVMs, and security personnel.

South Central Railway announces shifting of special trains to ease out traffic congestion

The Charlapalli station, redeveloped at a significant cost of Rs 430 crore, was originally slated to open in August after the completion of road widening works in the area. However, delays occurred due to several factors, including issues related to land acquisition for the development of approach road connectivity.

With most modern facilities and features and design elements on par with airports, the new facility is taking shape at a cost of Rs 430 crore.

The station will not only reduce the congestion on other existing rail terminals but also to serve passengers in the eastern part of the city.
