South Central Railway steps up measures for Sankranthi passenger surge
South Central Railway has announced special measures to handle the surge in passenger traffic during the Sankranthi festival. With daily footfall expected to reach 2.20 lakh at Secunderabad, 50,000 at Lingampalli and 35,000 at Cherlapalli, facilities have been enhanced with additional booking counters, ATVMs, and security personnel.

Hyderabad: In view of the anticipated surge in passenger footfall during the Sankranthi festival, the South Central Railway has taken up several measures to mitigate the ensuing passenger rush.
The expected average daily footfall during the festival period is approximately 2.20 lakh passengers at Secunderabad, 50,000 at Lingampalli and 35,000 at Cherlapalli stations.
At Secunderabad station, 17 booking counters and 20 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) have been kept operational for the convenience of passengers. Further, Indian Railways has announced a 3% discount on unreserved tickets booked through the RailOne mobile application using digital payment modes, valid from January 14 to July 14.
Additional TTEs and RPF personnel have been deployed at all entry and exit points. CCTV surveillance control room has been set up and the war room has been made operational 24×7 in Divisional Headquarters.
Due to redevelopment works at Secunderabad Railway Station, parking has been temporarily suspended and limited pick-up/drop-off at Platform No. 1 has been arranged.
At Secunderabad station, the parking Access Control System at the Bhoiguda entrance (Platform No.10 side) has been temporarily lifted to facilitate faster passenger movement. Passengers are advised to use the basement parking facility at Platform No. 10.
Additional train stoppages have been arranged from 07-01-2026 to 20-01-2026 for 16 trains at Hi-tech-City and for 11 trains at Cherlapalli stations. Temporary stoppage of trains at Lingampalli has been arranged for 10 trains up to April 30. Baggage screening facilities have also been arranged at Platform No.1 at Lingampalli station.
