Karunakar, director of the Gangadhara Market Committee, died in a Hyderabad hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a November 23 accident involving the convoy of Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Satyam near Pudur in Jagtial district. He was shifted for advanced treatment but succumbed.
According to the police, on September 28 last year, MLA Satyam received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number demanding Rs.20 lakh. The caller also threatened to defame him and make his two children orphans if he did not pay up
