The government debunked social media claims and warned about an AI-generated deepfake video of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi circulating online. PIB Fact Check said the fabricated posts are part of a Pakistani disinformation campaign targeting India.
Backing Rashmika Mandanna, BRS MLC K Kavitha made a post on x (formerly Twitter) and called for immediate action to safeguard women from cyber threats.
"Shame on people who resort to such things, it shows that there's no conscience left at all in such people. Thank you rashmika_mandanna for speaking up, and for addressing this issue that so far we have seen glimpses of but a lot of us chose to remain silent," wrote Mrunal on Instagram.
Congress leader Manickam Tagore wrote to Union IT Minister saying it poses a severe threat to individuals' privacy and security and demanded for a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework in India.
She expressed her fear and concern about the impact of deepfakes, not only on herself but on everyone. She emphasized the vulnerability that comes with the misuse of technology and the potential for harm that it can cause.
