In a statement on Tuesday, Saad Al-Otaibi, the DGCA spokesman, said the resumption of flights will begin on Saturday at 4 p.m., Xinhua news agency reported.

The aviation regulator further clarified that international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the "competent authority on case to case basis".

As many as 21.07 lakh and 28.32 lakh people travelled by air domestically this July and August, respectively, the regulator had said last month.

The approval came after a thorough evaluation process by the Quality Council of India (QCI), in line with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines
