The government has notified CAFE-3 norms for automakers, effective from April 2027 to March 2032. The final rules remove a separate concession for small petrol cars but retain super-credits for EVs, hybrids and other cleaner vehicle

The government has extended the PM E-DRIVE scheme to March 31, 2028, with a Rs 11,900 crore outlay to boost EV adoption, charging infrastructure and domestic manufacturing. Electric two-wheelers will receive incentives of up to Rs 5,000 per vehicle, subject to eligibility

Accordingly, incentives will be now offered to two-, three- and four-wheelers, light commercial, shared transport and public transport vehicles.
