The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Congress have arranged food and other essential items for the agitating farmers, who have been sitting on the Delhi-Haryana border for the last six days since.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that he was committed to the welfare of hardworking farmers, and the Centres' new farm laws were a step in this direction.

The Narendra Modi-led NDA government has set a target of doubling farmers' income by 2022.

The Prime Minister stressed on "proper and right information" about these farm laws to derive its benefit.

Meanwhile, BSP supremo Mayawati and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh urged the Centre to reconsider the "anti-farmer" laws.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has termed Amit Shah's offer to hold discussions at the earliest as the best in the interest of the farming community and the nation at large.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Central government is committed for the prosperity of farmers and said "gumrahi gang" is trying to mislead them.

Massive traffic jams were also reported from Singhu border, Tikri border and Delhi-Gurugram border because of the protest.
