The JJP is primarily a rural Jat-centric party with the farmers as its core vote bank. The Jat, a dominant farming community, comprises 28 per cent of state's population.

The notice comes in the wake of a tweet from the actor alleging that the 'Shaheen Bagh dadi' also joined the farmers' agitation over the new agri laws at various border points of the national capital.

The group of 34 farmer union leaders also set up a separate food stall in Vigyan Bhawan-- the government-farmer talks venue -- and most of them sat on the floor to have their lunch.

Her statement came ahead of a crucial round of talks scheduled to be held between the Centre and representatives of the agitating farmers during the day.

As part of their 'Delhi Chalo' march, farmers have been staging protests at four busy border points of the national capital, to press their demands for repealing the agri-marketing laws.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Congress have arranged food and other essential items for the agitating farmers, who have been sitting on the Delhi-Haryana border for the last six days since.

The farmers at the Delhi-Noida border belong to various districts of western Uttar Pradesh and want to reach the national capital to join the bigger stir launched by farmers of Punjab and Haryana.

"We have seen some ill-informed comments by Canadian leaders relating to farmers in India. Such comments are unwarranted, especially when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said.

Farmers had faced water cannons and teargas when they were heading towards the national capital as part of their 'Delhi Chalo' march against the farm laws.

In a tweet, Vijayan described the farmers as the "lifeblood" of the country and said it it time to stand with them.

"I would be remiss if I didn't start also by recognising the news coming out of India about the protest by farmers. The situation is concerning and we're all very worried about family and friends," Trudeau said.
