FSSAI’s front-of-pack warning labels for packaged foods are a welcome step, but they will be meaningful only if consumers understand what the labels signify
FSSAI said several food companies, including Mondelez India and Amway India, withdrew misleading product claims and revised packaging following regulatory notices. Mondelez removed health and nutrient claims, while Amway dropped “100%” from its coconut oil label and discontinued “Energy Drink” terminology
The tool facilitates easy submission of details such as front-of-pack images highlighting the misleading claim, the FSSAI license or registration number of the manufacturer, and the e-commerce URL if the product is being sold online.
