The Hyderabad Police’s Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) has intensified its vigilance against the sale of chemically ripened mangoes in city markets. Commissioner VC Sajjanar cautioned citizens to avoid fruits with unnatural colour, odour, or taste, as they may be ripened using hazardous chemicals like Calcium Carbide.
In the first raid, Mohd.Moiz, a fruit seller from Borabanda was caught and officials seized 160 trays, each carrying 20 kgs of mangoes and sachets of ethylene.
