Scientists at Hyderabad’s CCMB have discovered that fungal infections may be stopped by targeting the sugar metabolism that fuels invasive growth. The study on Candida albicans offers new possibilities for developing more effective antifungal therapies.
Wildlife researcher Dr. Venkatesh Anagandhula has discovered the rare Purple Pinwheel fungi (Marasmius haematocephalus) in Telangana’s Kawal Tiger Reserve. Previously known from other states, its presence highlights the reserve’s ecological richness and the need for documenting lesser-known forest species
They are primarily added to the products to prevent the growth of bacteria, mould, and fungi, thereby extending their shelf life and ensuring product safety.
"In order for us to really use fungi to control agricultural pests in the future, we need to understand the mechanisms and processes behind their activity. So, it's very exciting that we have managed to advance a step closer", said researcher
