US President Donald Trump claimed India has stopped buying Russian oil and reiterated his role in mediating India-Pakistan hostilities. India clarified it is diversifying energy sourcing, while Washington’s tariffs on Indian goods continue to strain bilateral ties.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said India-Russia relations go beyond oil trade, describing them as a “particularly privileged strategic partnership”. He stressed respect for India’s independent foreign policy while rejecting US pressure over oil purchases during remarks at the UN.
The US President had mounted a sharp attack on India and Russia for their close ties and said the two countries can take their “dead economies down together”
