For the record, 20-year-old Yashwanth is covering the highest peaks of the Seven Sister States in North-East India and had already successfully completed Mt. Gorichen (highest peak of Arunachal Pradesh), Betalongchhip of Thaidawr (highest peak of Tripura) and now Mt Iso (highest peak of Manipur)
"The initiative to raise the national flag on Africa's highest peak was initiated on the day of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya," stated Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh.
The purpose behind the march with the national flag is that the Congress wants other like-minded parties and civil society groups to join the programme, said a Congress leader.
