A Congress councillor in Isnapur municipality was disqualified for allegedly violating the party whip and voting in favour of the BRS chairperson candidate. Following a complaint by DCC president Nirmala Jagga Reddy, officials declared the ward seat vacant
The enrolment of BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao as an ex-officio member of Isnapur municipality, where the party has no elected councillors, has triggered political speculation as Congress and BRS vie for control ahead of the chairperson election.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi emerged as the single largest party in Isnapur municipality, winning 12 of the 26 wards, while the Congress secured 10. Four Independent councillors will play a decisive role in forming the civic body as the Congress lacks a majority and ex-officio support.
