The iconic Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol was immersed in Hussain Sagar on Friday afternoon amid tight police security and thousands of devotees. The procession was delayed by three hours due to a technical snag in a hydraulic crane before the immersion.
Khairatabad DCP K Shilpavalli briefly joined devotees and young girls in dancing during the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh immersion procession at NTR Marg on Friday. The moment captured the festive spirit among police personnel managing crowds, traffic and security during the celebrations.
The Khairatabad Bada Ganesh procession began at 9.30 am on Friday after a three-hour delay caused by a pipe rupture in the hydraulic crane. The 69-foot idol is expected to reach Hussain Sagar by 2 pm for immersion
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar inspected security arrangements ahead of the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh immersion. Around 20,000 police personnel and nearly 10,000 CCTV cameras have been deployed, while 26 She Teams will operate at crowded locations
BRS working president KT Rama Rao offered special prayers at the Khairatabad Ganesh idol on Wednesday, seeking good rains, prosperity, and farmers’ welfare. Accompanied by senior party leaders, he also visited pandals across Hyderabad and extended greetings to devotees.
Telangana DGP CV Anand announced that 30,000 police personnel have been deployed across Hyderabad to ensure security, crowd management, and traffic regulation during the Ganesh immersion processions. Special measures, including SHE Teams and Task Force deployment, have been taken to safeguard women and prevent theft.
Devotees will be allowed to have darshan of the Khairatabad Ganesh idol till midnight Thursday, after which arrangements for its shifting will begin. The main immersion procession is scheduled for Friday morning.
The immersion which commences on Thursday is expected to continue on Friday as well during which several thousands of Ganesh idols ranging from Khairatabad Bada Ganesh, Balapur Ganesh and others are expected to be immersed.
