Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced plans to reduce the number of government schools in the State from 27,000 to 4,000, promising quality education from nursery to Class XII with free meals and transport.
Government school teachers in Telangana have raised concerns over the growing role of NGOs in education, alleging that private organisations are being allowed to handle academics instead of strengthening schools. They also demanded relief from non-teaching duties and better infrastructure.
