Hyderabad: Government school teachers have expressed serious concerns over the increasing role of NGOs in education.
The Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) president Chava Ravi and general secretary A Venkat found fault with the State government for entering into agreements with private organisations for imparting academics to students.
“Instead of strengthening government schools by providing basic infrastructure and appointing one teacher per class to ensure quality education, the government is entering into agreements with organisations like Physics Wallah and Khan Academy and conducting classes that are largely ineffective,” they said.
Teachers demanded that they be allowed to teach freely and be relieved of the burden of non-teaching duties. They wanted the government to appoint separate non-teaching staff to handle online reporting work.
Meanwhile, the TS UTF announced that a state education conference and extended State committee meetings under the Federation’s banner will be held on December 28 and 29 at the Jangaon district headquarters.
