The GHMC has sanctioned Rs. 2.95 crore to restore a small bridge in Yakutpura, popularly known as ‘London Bridge’. Though unrelated to its namesake in the UK, the bridge earned its name from local residents during post-rain repairs. Narrow and used only by two-wheelers, the bridge is set to be widened to accommodate larger vehicles.
The GHMC Standing Committee has proposed renaming the Telugu Thalli flyover to Telangana Thalli flyover and recommended it to the State government. It also approved land acquisition for road widening near RK Puram, extended streetlight maintenance till December 2025.
The small bridge running over a nala is a well-known structure in these parts of the city. Scores of families link their residential addresses to the bridge.
