Taking to Twitter, Malala talked about the hijab controversy raging in India's state Karnataka where Muslim students wearing the hijab are being barred from entering college premises.

The 24-year-old took to her Instagram handle on Monday night and confirmed the news by sharing pictures from her intimate wedding ceremony.

Yousafzai gained international recognition for her activism against the Taliban's efforts to stop girls from attending school in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Sudeshna Mairal said that education brings in an essential transformation in human beings.

The Pakistani education campaigner wrote that leaders must "prioritise education" as "Covid-19 could force 20 million more girls out of school".
