Cardinal Poola Anthony, Metropolitan Archbishop of Hyderabad, has been elected President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India during its 37th general body meeting, bringing decades of pastoral and administrative experience to the leadership of the Catholic Church in India.
The event was graced by two Cardinals including the newly installed Cardinal Poola Anthony, Cardinal Oswald Gracias from Mumbai, 15 Bishops from across India and thousands of faithful Catholics
The event is being organized in the background of Pope Francis installing Hyderabad Metropolitan Archbishop Poola Anthony as Cardinal in Vatican City on August 27, convener of the media committee for the event, Father Allam Arogya Reddy said.
